As I walked home from work today I realised that I will only teach once more on a Monday on this placement. The penultimate week has come so quickly. Today's lessons were ok. Both of my lessons on weather began to fall off the pace leaving more to be done tomorrow in order to catch up. I am also constantly amazed at just how immature some first year pupils can be...silly comments, laughing, talking....basically being unable to control themselves. I have begun to employ the tactic of divide and conquer. By getting all of the pupils to recognise that they are being punished for one or two peoples silly behaviour I am starting to see a change in the reactions of most pupils to the childish outbursts.
My only other class today was a second settlement lesson on land use zones. Using the projector and a powerpoint of Edinburgh engaged the pupils. Again however what could have been a good lesson was ruined at the end of the day with some childish behaviour.
