Open Street Map Project

David Gilmour emailed me this morning to point out an article that he had read in this morning's Guardian Technology. The article was about the Open Street Map project http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/index.php/OSM_Workshop The project aims to gather the street map data OS won't share by collecting it all again using GPS.

Story full story is at http://technology.guardian.co.uk/weekly/story/0,,1771598,00.html

David suggests that this could make a brilliant Geography project and I agree with him completely (particularly as it’s the summer term)I’ve registered with the site and hope to take part in a couple of on-line tutorials sometime next week. I am wondering how much of Dunbar my S3 class could map in a week – quite a challenge. I’ll let you know how I get on!
