We spent the first part of the morning during the in service day talking about Assessment is for Learning. The presentations and workshop seemed to create a great deal of discussion with staff. We have already started to think about AifL in the Geography Department and have been generating ideas to help improve and imbed good practice within our courses. We have taken this into account as we have developed our new S1 and S2 courses for next session.
After lunch we discussed the Geography Department internal review. We will be the first department to be reviewed under the new guidelines drawn up by the school. We decided to focus the review on S1 and S2. The primary reason for this was that our review starts week beginning the 15th May and we won’t have any senior or certificate classes at this time. The review panel will be looking at how we use assessment. The review panel will be made up of the SMT, and NQT from DGS and a geography specialist from elsewhere in the Authority. I will blog here how we get on.
