Rested and now ready for the trip (almost)
I returned from holiday last week well rested and full of energy again. Amongst the emails awaiting me was one from my Cape Town facilitator with the itinerary for our trip. He has worked very hard at achieving a mix of school visits and excursions to help us to appreciate the progress since apartheid ended. The schools that we will visit are:
- In Cape Town (previously white schools): Tamboerskloof Primary; Grove Primary; Camps Bay High and Rustenberg Girls’ High.
- In Cape Town (previously coloured state schools): Sunray Primary and Rosendal High.
- In Langa township: Zimasa Primary and Siyabulela Primary.
- Outside the Cape Town area: Seidelberg Farm School in Paarl and Groote Post School (rural school) in Darling.
The excursions are as follows: Table Mountain; Robben Island; South African Museum and Gardens; tour of Langa Township; District Six Museum and Stellenbsoch Wine Lands and a Wine Tour. Of course, I will only be having a very small sip of any liquid offered on the latter trip!
All in all, this is an amazing amount to fit in considering that we arrive in Cape Town at 05:00 on Saturday 12th and leave at 04:30 on Saturday 19th.
I see that a photograph has miraculously appeared on one of my previous blogs, so I will attempt another just to see if it works again. All I have on my camera at the moment are holidays ‘snaps’ so hopefully you will see a beautiful view from Santorini.
