Apologies for the delay in this update – problems with technology
Really busy week last week.
S3 parents evening on Monday night went well – my first experience of reporting directly to parents. To help me I got lots of advice and prepared a little poly-pocket pack for each pupil. In it was a copy of their last test, and two pieces of work selected by the pupils themselves – a best work and a worst work. This process was worthwhile in itself, as the pupils seemed to think a lot about why work was good/bad. I also had a crib sheet detailing strengths; improvements and next steps for each pupil which I shared with parents and let them have if they wanted.
I found having this pack really useful for keeping me on track and in control of the 5-minute session. The downside was I perhaps did too much of the talking and felt as though I was repeating myself by the end of the rapid-fire 2 hour session.
Going home at the back of 10 was also tough and it took a while for me to wind down as well. I had a chat with Glen Morangie to help me wind down though!
