Wednesday was Higher History Conference at Edinburgh University. AH and I taught periods 1 and 2 then shot off back to Edinburgh University to meet with our higher students for an inaugural Edin Uni / History Association Higher conference.
It was a positive event which saw 8 schools and over 200 pupils attending from different regions. Unfortunately, the first lecture switched several off as it was too long and jumped straight into uni-style presentation (where were the visuals?!!) about Parliamentary changes, which our lot had not yet covered at Higher.
Fortunately the workshop on sources was better, although our lot were just getting into the swing of discussing sources with pupils from Watsons when time was called – more time here would have been more beneficial.
The final lectures were more accessible and informative (visuals at last!!). On the whole, a good afternoon, although the class are going to recommend changes for next year.
I also enjoyed networking with Uni and teaching colleagues and catching up with friends and colleagues over the magic lunch provided!
Home – hanging wallpaper till 10.30 in an effort to get flat respectable for a visit from siblings this weekend!! A busy week!!
