Blogging and management

I went a walk this morning and recorded my second podcast .I was interested to read Alastair Seagroatt's comments on my last podcast -

"Was listening to an item on podcasts the other day and the nature of communication. A suggestion was that bloggers may invite podcasts from others on to their site, otherwise it may become a one way preaching style to the converted. Not sure where I stand on this."

I like the idea of providing a two way conversation (podcasts welcome) although I hope I'm not preaching in my podcasts - it's more an exploration of a topic I've been thinking about throughout the week. Anyway in my podcast I explored how blogging has contributed to my job since August of last year. At the conclusion of my podcast I sugggested that blogging provides a strategic map which provides a context for my work. It's a map which differs from other maps in that its major contribution is not so much to tell you how to find a place but more that it helps you understand how you got to where you are. I'm using my weblog more and more to help me to track how certain areas of my work have evolved - and then using that knowledge to plan the next steps. Without my blog I think most of my work would just be a series of unconnected events.
