20th March

Catch up weblog 1

Today has been an interesting day. I have not got Admin support this afternoon and I alays seem to get caught up in little annoying phone calls and lifting the phone to find a fax machine talking to me. This evening I am talking to Oldhamsock Rural about lgrowing up and life in Barra. I have perared my slideshow and hve pulled out all the best pictures I could find. After thinking about what I was going to say I decided to let the picures do the talking and I would put stories to them. I also have to send tghrough stuff to Ruth today and all the constant interuptions are not helping this happen.

21st March

I am not on a skive today but it feels like it. Richard Wilson and David Wharton and myself are all at Stirling Management Centre updating our knowledge of Heads Together. The session is worthwhile and we find out a lot of interesting stuff. Over lunch we discuss things thatare gouing on in our schoools. I feel that at times I don't do this type of thing enough. It has been good to be away from the school today. I feel refreshed and motivated by what we have discussed and seen today.

22nd March

As well as geting the HMIE letter. Today saw me Haddington, Innerwick,Haddinton, Innerwick. I attended a meeting with Don Ledingham, Mary McCall, Julia Robertson and Alison Wishart about Enterprise and the amount of paperwork associsated with this project. I felt that my concerns from the small school point of view were taken on board and I was very impressed with the way we dealt with this issue. In a small school the HT or PT holds wear of the hats. Sometimes we cannot manage everything on time.

Thursday 23 March

In the Nursery this morning after 2 days out. I feel like a stranger.

I start to fill in the HMIE pre-inspection profile. We also start to put together 2 boxes of evidence for the team.

Friday 24th March

I am not in Nursery again today dure to ASL training on CSPs at the Town House in Haddington I an told that I have to be there. I have to leave early to attend an urgent meeting back at school.

Monday 27th March

In the Nursery in the morning. At 11:30 I have a meeting with Ross Morrison regarding improvement to the toilets at the top end of the school. I also liase with Gordon and Halliday about flooring that is to be laid during the holidays.

After everything is quite I continue to fill in the Pre-inpection return.

At 3pm I have a Physio appointment as I have the back of a 80 year old. Too much football as a youth. This goes well, although I should have put on a better pair of pants. Poor forward planning!!

28th and 29th March

I am in hospital today for an operation on my bowel. I will not go into detail but this is not something I would like to repeat.

Thursday 30 th March

I am back at work today tender and fragile. I get on with the HMIE return after a morning in Nursery. In the afternoon I chair the Cluster Heads Meeting. I go back to school to finalise the return which I send off. I get a phone call from Don at 5:15 telling me to go home. I oblige.

Friday 31st March

Marion and myself decide that it would be best to go up to Barra for the Easter Holidays as I would be feeling the draw of school too often if we stayed here. We have a fantastic holiday!!
