Hurricane Katrina
Please comment on the Hurricane Katrina resource sent out to all East Lothian schools. Did you use it? And is this the sort of thing we want more of? This discussion forum will be removed on the 8th October 2005.

Hurricane Katrina Powerpoint
I took the opportunity to use this resource with my S2 class. They had been asking lots of questions about the hurricane so it provided a good forum and focus for discussion. It was very effective.
In particular they were very interested in the photographs and their discussion was impressive with lots of ideas generated and different responses to them expressed. Whilst the images were playing they were so quiet- it was unbelievable!!
Flash animations were popular and got the idea of storm formation across really successfully.
My only suggestion for future use would be additional activites for the class to complete to break up the presentation a little more. Possibly a thinking skill.
Otherwise it made for a good lesson, well received.
