Nursery Admissions
This will only apply to those primary schools who have a nursery.
You will be aware from recent guidelines that we now have four nursery intakes per year i.e. at the start of each new term, with places being offered depending on how the child's 3rd birthday falls. It was my understanding that where a child's 3rd birthday fell after the start of a new term but before the begininning of the next term (inclusive of the holiday preceeding the start of the new term) that the child should be offered a place to start nursery in the term immediately following their birthday (where their birthday is before 1st March). However, it came to my attention last week that where the child's birthday actually falls during the holiday period (i.e. after the end of the previous term but before the start of the new term - with the exception of the summer holidays), the child is not actually eligible for a funded nursery place until the next again term. Perhaps this is not something you have encountered yet, but is worth watching out for. Please contact Helen MacMillan in the Early Years Team if you wish further clarification.
