Crits and assessing the assessments.

Since my last post I have been busy writing lessons and enjoying myself. The last few days have seen a change in my mood. This is mainly due to the passing of my crit lesson. And I am happy to report that it was a good crit. To begin with I was worried as the room fell silent due to the presence of George Robertson (my crit tutor) and it became increasingly hard to drag answers out of my suddenly very shy 3rd year class.

With a relaxing weekend I have launched myself into my final week. Todays lessons went well. The 4th years (back from work experience) were very dopey this morning...I tried to strike up a friendly conversation about their experiences but ended up feeling like I was pulling teeth....oh well nevermind onto the lesson. It went well and they warmed up and started answering questions. The other lessons of the day also went well....even the first years were well behaved...mind you it was the only lesson that I see them that isnt last one in the day!

Final period today was the second years. I had prepared a small test for them and have set myself the challenge of analysing the results....in other words how good was the test and how good is my teaching.

Final thing to mention was my rude awakening this morning at 7am as a recorded delivery required a signature. I was more than a little surprised to see my name on a four foot long carboard tube. Inside was a letter explaining that I had won two A1 posters, on Sand dunes and vegetation succession, when I attended the SAGT conference in October last year!
