Back to the Chalkface!

Well here we are again. The evening before I launch back into lesson plans, assessments and admin. I am only timetabled for one lesson tomorrow...first year mapwork. Tomorrow's lesson is 4 figure and 6 figure grid references. I hope this will be a nice re-introduction to teaching.
I also sat in on the Departmental Meeting this afternoon. Its only at one of these meetings that you realise just how much staff have to do in a school. The shear volume of marking is amazing.
- First year: Homework and tests
- Second year: Project work and tests
- Thirds year unti tests and Fourth year unit tests at Foundation, General and Credit level.
- Higher, Advanced Higher and Int 2 tests, NABs, prelims and coursework.
Then you need to combine it all for every pupil, with comments in order to write the reports. Of course none of this takes into account the lesson planning, unit planning, resource production/acquisition or actual teaching. In a school of 1400 this is no mean feat, but the staff seem to have a well oiled machine in place when it comes to marking.
Almost forgot to mention I think I have ended up volunteering for a barbershop group...don't ask!
