David Gilmour emailed me this morning to point out an article that he had read in this morning's Guardian Technology. The article was about the Open Street Map project
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/index.php/OSM_Workshop The project aims to gather the street map data OS won't share by collecting it all again using GPS.

David suggests that this could make a brilliant Geography project and I agree with him completely (particularly as it’s the summer term)I’ve registered with the site and hope to take part in a couple of on-line tutorials sometime next week. I am wondering how much of Dunbar my S3 class could map in a week – quite a challenge. I’ll let you know how I get on!
