I have put this up on the school
website today. The idea is that it will be updated via an RSS feed by LTS each month directly to the school website. The information is designed to engage parents in a simplistic way to the four capacities. I like the idea of this. What do you think? Is this something that has legs?
I am finding that the school website is crammed with information for parents and that can only be a good thing.
Parent Tips for September
All schools and nurseries in Scotland are working towards developing children's learning through learning, teaching acitivities, every day experiences, events and celebrations. Scotland's aspiration is that every young person becomes a :
- successful learner who is enthusiastic and keen to learn new things
- confident individual who believes in themselves
- responsible citizen who respects others
- effective contributor who is resilient and enterprising.

Confident individuals
|
|
Try to be positive and focus on what they are doing right (rather than what they are doing wrong!) and praise them.
Sit down with your child/teenager to eat more often - it’s a great opportunity for talking.

Responsible citizens
|
|
If possible walk to school! Point out how cars and bad parking cause the traffic jams at school, affect the environment and how much healthier it is to walk occasionally.
Re-cycle some of your 'rubbish' at home and talk about why.

Effective contributors
|
|
Get your child to teach you what they are learning.
Talk about team sports, who does what and why they are all important.
